Player's Ball Installation
Summer ‘22 I was hired for a super dope project! A friend of mine had her annual end of the summer party and this year’s theme was a Player’s Ball. To capture the zeitgeist of the 70’s, I wanted to do something psychedelic. Given that majority of the wall space inside of the venue was made of brick I had to figure out a material to use that was durable yet easy to remove to create this installation.
Initially when I sketched out my design, I had planned to create a traditional checker board background. Then I thought….B O R I N G !!! Let me switch it up a bit. So I tested out this maze pattern on the side of my grandparent’s brick home and I settled on duck tape to get the job done. Two days & approximately 15 rolls of tape later this master piece was created.
Side note: I tried created my own disco balls out of a rubber ball, silver spay paint and silver glitter (which you can see in the 3rd pic below in the center) but it was extremely messy and would not stay attached to the fishing wire it was hanging from. So the decision was made to stick with the large inflatable and mini disco balls to hang from the ceiling.
P.S. The wick chair and record player were provided by the lovely host <3
